Florida Dog Park Planning: Site, Surface, Shade & Equipment
Plan a commercial dog park for a Florida community or property. Review site use, shade, surfacing, equipment, and the information needed for a project quote.
Printable Florida dog park project scope checklist
The Florida Dog Park Project Scope Checklist is a free, printable worksheet from Go Outdoor Amenities. It lists the site facts, owner decisions, amenity choices, delivery and installation responsibilities, and approval questions a Florida HOA, multifamily property, RV resort or campground, or public agency can gather before asking for a dog park quote. It is a planning aid, not engineering, legal or code guidance. Open the scope checklist.
Start with intended use and users
Write down who will use the park and how often. Settle daily volume, who supervises, and access control (residents only, key fob, guests or fully public) before choosing equipment. In Florida, peak use is usually early morning and just after sunset.
Large and small dog separation
Splitting the park by dog size is a planning option, not a requirement. It reduces conflict but costs area and fencing. On a tight site, one well-designed run usually beats two cramped ones. If you split, plan a shared double-gated entry.
Shade and seating
Shade over seating comes first, then over areas where dogs gather. Benches with backs placed so an adult can see the whole run, a waste station near the entry and a water source where the site supports one make the space usable for more of the day.
Surfacing and drainage questions
Ask the appropriate professionals where water goes after heavy rain, whether existing grading or drains can be used, what base preparation the chosen surface needs, how it will be cleaned, and what a refresh looks like in five years. Natural turf, engineered surfacing and artificial pet turf are all used in Florida communities.
Equipment, waste, water, fencing and signage
Agility elements such as jumps, tunnels, weave poles, ramps and pause tables, plus waste stations, perimeter fencing with a double-gated entry and rules signage. The commercial dog park package is equipment only and ships to the contiguous U.S.; Florida projects can be scoped with surfacing, shade and installation when written into the proposal.
